Glacier crossing and exploring with ropes

Our adventure begins in the historic Sverdrupbyen before leading us deep into a spectacular Arctic landscape. From the outset, we tackle a steady ascent through a narrow valley carved between rugged mountain slopes. A small river winds its way through the terrain, guiding us toward the glacier.

During summer, the valley comes alive with thousands of little auks, whose constant activity and calls create a truly unforgettable Arctic atmosphere.

As we reach the first plateau, the landscape opens dramatically before us. Here, we step onto the moraine of the Platåbreen glacier, marking the start of the expedition’s most exciting stage. After gearing up and learning the basics of glacier travel, we rope up and venture onto the ice, exploring a frozen world shaped by centuries of snow, wind, and movement.

Surrounded by towering ice formations, deep crevasses, and sweeping mountain vistas, you’ll gain a unique perspective on one of Svalbard’s most remarkable natural environments. Following our glacier exploration, we take a well-earned break for lunch, enjoying breathtaking views of the glacier and the dramatic Arctic wilderness that surrounds us.
